“OUTSIDE IS AMERICA” by Lee Quiñones | Register Interest
On view this October at Woodbury House, 29 Sackville Street, Mayfair, W1S 3DX
We are proud to present “OUTSIDE IS AMERICA” by Lee Quiñones, his first solo exhibition in London in 40 years.
Widely regarded as the most influential artist to emerge from New York City’s subway art movement, Lee rose to prominence in the mid-1970s as a teenage graffiti writer, renowned for painting entire subway cars that transformed the city into a moving museum. Over more than five decades, he has evolved into an internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, with works now housed in leading museum collections including MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Brooklyn Museum.
“OUTSIDE IS AMERICA” will be a landmark exhibition, uniting original works created specifically for this moment with rare early drawings and prints that chart the full scope of his career. For London, it is more than just an exhibition — it is the long-awaited return of a cultural pioneer whose vision and influence have left an indelible mark on global art and history.
