‘Los Angeles: A Visual Lineage’ brings together four of the most significant figures to emerge from the West Coast — Chaz Bojórquez, DEFER, Estevan Oriol and RETNA — for a landmark exhibition presented at Woodbury House’s flagship gallery in Mayfair, London.
This documentary tells the full story of that exhibition — from the first works placed on the walls, to the private view that brought Los Angeles to London, to the public opening that followed.
Spanning more than five decades of artistic evolution rooted in Los Angeles, the film traces the development of a distinctly West Coast visual language — from Chicano calligraphy and graffiti to photography and contemporary abstraction — and explores how these artists have transformed street-born visual codes into some of the most compelling works in contemporary art.
‘Los Angeles: A Visual Lineage’ is on view at Woodbury House, 29 Sackville Street, Mayfair, London, until 24 April 2026. Visitors are welcome during normal gallery hours.
Private viewings are available throughout the exhibition period. To arrange a viewing or request further information, please contact the gallery directly.
