Step inside the private view of ‘Los Angeles: A Visual Lineage’, a landmark exhibition presented at Woodbury House’s flagship gallery in Mayfair, London.
This special evening brought together pioneering figures from the visual culture of Los Angeles — Chaz Bojórquez, DEFER, Estevan Oriol and RETNA — alongside collectors, curators and guests to celebrate the opening of an exhibition that traces the evolution of Los Angeles’ distinct artistic language across generations.
The private view featured a champagne reception, signed catalogues, and a rare moment of live painting inside the gallery by Chaz Bojórquez and DEFER, documenting a historic collaboration between two artists whose practices are deeply rooted in the lettering traditions of Los Angeles.
Outside the gallery, low riders lined Sackville Street, bringing a living expression of LA culture to the streets of Mayfair, while renowned photographer Estevan Oriol documented the evening — continuing his long-standing role as a visual chronicler of the city’s culture.
Together, the exhibition presents a rare convergence of artists whose work has helped shape the visual identity of Los Angeles — from graffiti and calligraphy to photography and contemporary abstraction.
