Alex “DEFER” Kizu is one of the most influential figures to emerge from the Los Angeles graffiti and street art movement. Known for his intricate calligraphic abstractions and spiritual approach to mark-making, DEFER’s work represents a profound evolution of urban art—bridging graffiti, fine art and subconscious expression. Raised in Boyle Heights, his early practice was forged in the energy, tension and identity of LA street culture, where graffiti was both personal declaration and visual language.
