'All Imperfections Included' by Torrick 'TOXIC' Ablack | Solo Exhibition at Woodbury House
‘All Imperfections Included’ traces the evolution of Torrick ‘TOXIC’ Ablack — from a young artist writing on the trains and walls of the Bronx, to a seasoned creator on a new intellectual and creative path — through the colours, thoughts, memories and emotions that have defined his life and work. Presented at Woodbury House’s flagship gallery in Mayfair, London, from 26th September to 31st October 2024, the exhibition brought together new works created specifically for the show alongside selected earlier pieces dating back to 1983 — offering a compelling and personal overview of an artist whose practice has never stopped evolving.
The title is deliberate. TOXIC’s focus on imperfection reflects a broader artistic philosophy — that perfection is unattainable, and that the pursuit of excellence alongside an acceptance of our limitations is what makes art honest. Every piece in the exhibition carried that thinking.
Bold colours, dynamic compositions, symbols that carry more meaning than they first appear to — and a creative instinct that remains as sharp and restless as it has always been. This documentary captures it all. From the days before opening — when TOXIC arrived at Woodbury House and made the space entirely his own — to the private view, the public opening, and an exclusive collectors gathering at The Devonshire. Thirty minutes. In his own words. Entirely unscripted.
